EEG101 shares the vision of CuttingEEG in promoting a culture of openness, respect, and collaboration within the EEG community. This document builds upon their foundational principles to create a space where all members can thrive.

EEG101 is a European COST Action that brings together a diverse and passionate EEG community. We believe in valuing and respecting the unique perspectives of all our members, because itโ€™s this diversity that makes our collective mission stronger and more impactful.

As a community, we welcome contributions from everyone who aligns with our goals and is eager to engage in a respectful, constructive, and collaborative manner. To ensure a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for all, we have established this Code of Conduct. By participating in EEG101, you agree to uphold these guidelines, fostering a community where science thrives and everyone feels empowered to contribute.


2. Core Principles

2.1 Respect and Professionalism

All interactions within EEG101 must be conducted with respect, empathy, and professionalism. Disagreements should be addressed constructively, without personal attacks or derogatory language.

2.2 Inclusivity and Diversity

EEG101 values diversity in all its forms. We actively welcome and support individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities. Discrimination, harassment, or exclusionary behavior will not be tolerated.

2.3 Collaboration and Transparency

EEG101 thrives on open collaboration. Members are expected to share knowledge, resources, and opportunities openly, while maintaining transparency in all activities.

2.4 Integrity and Ethical Conduct

All members must adhere to the highest standards of scientific rigor, honesty, and ethical conduct. This includes proper attribution of contributions, respect for intellectual property, and compliance with ethical guidelines.


3. Expected Behaviors

3.1 Communication

  • Use clear, professional, and inclusive language in all interactions.
  • Avoid jargon, slang, or exclusionary terms.
  • Respect preferred names and pronouns.

3.2 Participation

  • Engage actively in discussions and activities.
  • Stay on topic in meetings, channels, and events.
  • Acknowledge contributions and give credit where it is due.

3.3 Conflict Resolution

  • Address disagreements constructively and respectfully.
  • If a conflict arises, seek mediation from a chair of the initiative.

4. Unacceptable Behaviors

The following behaviors are prohibited in all EEG101 spaces:

  • Harassment or discrimination based on gender, race, religion, disability, career stage, or any other characteristic.
  • Disruptive or disrespectful behavior, including personal attacks, trolling, or persistent off-topic posts.
  • Sharing sensitive or confidential information without permission.
  • Misrepresenting affiliations, credentials, or contributions.
  • Spam, self-promotion, or unsolicited advertising.

5. Scope of Application

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • All EEG101 online platforms (Discord, mailing lists, social media).
  • In-person events (meetings, workshops, conferences).
  • Collaborative projects under the EEG101 umbrella.

6. Reporting and Enforcement

6.1 How to Report a Violation

If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it to:

6.2 Consequences of Violations

Violations may result in:

  • A warning
  • Temporary removal from channels or events
  • Permanent ban from EEG101 platforms, depending on the severity of the violation
