The EEG101 Code of Conduct is adapted from the CuttingEEG Code of Conduct and applies to all EEG101 spaces — including Discord, mailing lists, in-person and online events, working group meetings, and collaborative projects.
Our principles
1. Respect, empathy, and professionalism
All participants in EEG101 activities are expected to treat one another with respect, empathy, and professionalism. We value diverse viewpoints and approaches and are committed to creating an environment in which everyone feels welcome to contribute.
2. Diversity and inclusion
EEG101 is committed to being a community where everyone is welcome, regardless of gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or career stage. We do not tolerate discrimination or harassment in any form.
3. Open collaboration
We foster an environment of open scientific collaboration. Ideas are shared constructively and credit is attributed appropriately. We encourage collaborative problem-solving and respect intellectual contributions from all members of the network.
4. Scientific integrity
We uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity, including transparency in methods and data, rigorous peer review, appropriate attribution of ideas and contributions, and honest reporting of findings and limitations.
Unacceptable behaviour
The following behaviours are not acceptable in EEG101 community spaces:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
- Offensive, derogatory, or exclusionary comments
- Personal or professional attacks
- Publishing private information about others without consent
- Deliberate misrepresentation or plagiarism
- Any other conduct that creates a hostile environment
Reporting concerns
If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to:
- Action Chair: Prof. Faisal Mushtaq (f.mushtaq@leeds.ac.uk)
- Vice Chair: Dr Anne-Sophie Dubarry
Reports will be handled confidentially and with care. All concerns will be taken seriously. Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith is not acceptable and is itself a violation of this Code of Conduct.
Consequences
EEG101 coordination reserves the right to take appropriate action in response to Code of Conduct violations, including warning the individual, temporary or permanent exclusion from EEG101 community spaces, or referral to the relevant institution.
