Funding opportunities for EEG101 network members

EEG101 offers several COST grant schemes to support research collaboration, training, and dissemination. Grants are open to researchers affiliated with institutions in COST Full Member or Cooperating Member countries.

Important information

🔹 Please note that the academic lead at the host institution for all STSM placements must be a member of EEG101. Applicants should ensure that prospective hosts have joined the Action before submitting their application. Membership is open to eligible researchers internationally, including those based outside COST countries.

🔹 For Virtual Mobility applications involving collaboration with a third party, the named academic or professional lead at the collaborating organisation must also be a member of EEG101. Applicants should ensure that any third-party collaborator has joined the Action before submitting their application.

🔹 Applications must also include a clear justification of the requested expenses, including estimated travel, accommodation and subsistence costs where relevant, so that the Grant Reviewers can assess whether the proposed budget is reasonable and eligible.

🔹 All visible output produced with support from these funding schemes must acknowledge the support of the COST Action and whenever possible use the COST and EEG101 logos (e.g. on presentation slides and posters). Manuscripts must include the following acknowledgement statement:

Grant schemes

Short-Term Scientific Mission

Up to €4,000 ● Open now

Funded research visits to a host institution within the EEG101 network. STSMs support knowledge exchange, skill development, and collaborative projects addressing community-identified challenges.

Eligibility Open to researchers affiliated with an institution in a COST Full Member or Cooperating Member country. Applicants must be working in a field related to EEG research.

Duration: Minimum 5 days, maximum 90 days

Deadline: Until funds are exhausted or 30th September 2026, whichever comes sooner.

Notes: Priority given to YRIs, ITC-based applicants, and projects addressing Working Group community challenges.

Virtual Mobility Grant

Up to €1,500 ● Open now

Grants to support virtual research collaborations between EEG101 network members. VMGs are particularly suited to researchers who cannot travel, including those with caring responsibilities or disabilities.

Eligibility Open to researchers affiliated with institutions in COST member countries. The collaboration must involve at least one host institution different from the applicant’s home institution.

Duration: 1 to 90 days (virtual)

Deadline: Until funds are exhausted or 30th September 2026, whichever comes sooner.

Notes: VMGs enable remote access to laboratories, software, and expertise across the network. Particularly encouraged for ITC applicants and YRIs.

Conference Grant (In-Person)

Up to €2,500 ● Open now

Grants supporting attendance and presentation at scientific conferences relevant to EEG research and open science.

Eligibility Open to Early Career Investigators and researchers from ITC countries. Applicants must be presenting at the conference (oral or poster).

Duration: Conference duration

Conference Grant (Online)

Up to €500 ● Open now

Grants supporting registration and participation in online or hybrid conferences for researchers unable to attend in person.

Eligibility Open to Early Career Investigators and ITC-based researchers. Applicants must be actively presenting or contributing to the event.

How to apply

Check eligibility

Review the grant scheme requirements and COST rules. Confirm your institution is in an eligible country.

Agree your visit or project

Contact a potential host institution within the EEG101 network and agree the work plan and dates.

Submit via e-COST

Complete your application on the e-COST platform (e-services.cost.eu/action/CA24148/working-groups/apply) before the deadline.

4

Await decision

Applications are reviewed by the Grant Awarding Coordinator. Decisions are communicated within 4 weeks of the deadline.

5

Carry out your mission

Complete your STSM, VMG, or attend the conference as approved.

6

Submit report

A short scientific report is required within 30 days of completing your grant. Payment is released on approval.
